When children see the wild only
through TV nature programmes, they expect to see monkeys in the trees of British
forests. Christina Green visits a woodland school that is trying to put children
back in touch with the wonders of our own countryside.
Wild at heart
'Yesterday was the best day of my life',
writes Amy after visiting the Woodland Education Centre at Offwell near Honiton in Devon.
One of a class of visiting primary schoolchildren, she is looking at the digital photos of
her visit that arrived back at her own school that morning.
In the first image, Amy and a bespectacled friend - pictured
- gaze at a couple of mini-beasties on a log. |
