Crambus silvella - A New Moth for Devon!

A species of moth not previously recorded in the county of Devon, has been found at the Woodland Education Centre.  

The moth was trapped by Brian Bewsher on the evening of Tuesday 5th August 2003.  The species was identified by the Devon Moth Recorder, Roy Mc Cormick and confirmed by Bernard Skinner, who is the author of 'Moths of the British Isles'.

Crambus silvella is associated with open rough areas where there are sedges.
