Summer Winter

Within the central marsh area of the Wetland there are two small permanent ponds (diagram). These are hidden within tall lush vegetation composed mostly of Reedmace, Branched Bur-reed and Yellow Iris. The ponds contain Common Water Starwort and Duckweed as well as a range of invertebrate life.

For a brief period in February, the small ponds and shallow water areas in the wetland appear to bubble with the spawn of Common Frogs. This soon hatches into thousands of tadpoles.
