Offwell Wetland Survey

Bar charts illustrating zonation patterns.
(data derived from belt transect 2 E/W)

Plant zonation in a wetland is related to the quantity of standing water at any one point. Some species prefer the drier areas, such as Silver Birch. Species such as Bog Bean grow in open water, whereas Yellow Iris is intermediate between these two extremes. This is illustrated in the diagram below showing the results from Belt Transect 2 E/W through the Offwell Wetland.
