hurdles, fences and stakes

	Hurdles are made from flexible split willow or hazel stems interwoven together. These effective fencing barriers have now been almost entirely replaced by wire netting and barbed wire.

	As well as hurdles, a variety of fences and gates are produced from wood (note the wood shavings in the foreground - a by-product of production).

	Wooden stakes of varying sizes are extensively used as fencing materials.
