Wetland Area - Civil Engineer's Plan
The breached dam was repaired by building a new spillway using a gabion basket structure. The new spillway would maintain the correct water height behind the dam to recreate a wetland habitat. This would consist of an area of open water adjacent to the dam wall, followed by transition zones of swamp, marsh and dry land, each one progressively dryer behind the open water. (see map.) |
